Suatoni oil mill in Amelia produces a high quality extra virgin olive oil, cold extracted from different varieties of olives (Frantoio, Pendolino, Leccino, Moraiolo and Rajo). The olives are harvested from 6000 olive trees, grown since 1996 in organic farming, in the Amerino area. Suatoni was among the first to produce organic e.v.o. oil. The olives are still rigorously harvested by hand and crushed with the innovative system of continuous and cold cycles.
Suatoni oil mill, founded by Franco in 1949, is currently followed by Francesco who deals with agronomy and production; and Giuditta interpreter loaned to agriculture, which follows the foreign market, sells oil, experiences and territory. The company that continuously invests in innovation, is now planting a new olive grove of an ancient native cultivar, the Goggia, rediscovered a few years ago by the CNR of Perugia.
The company’s flagship products are Olio evo DOP Umbria and a very special, rare monovarietal, which comes from the processing of the olives of the centuries-old olive grove Rajo, autochthonous and typical of the area.
Beside the Frantoio there is a farmhouse where in addition to the stay, experiences are offered to discover the world and the olive oil tradition: visits to the mill, walks in the centuries-old olive groves, tasting guides and educational activities on the theme of oil for children.
A special feature: from Suatoni there is a line of Bio Cosmetics based on certified Evo Bio Oil and during the holidays, along with artisan pastry chefs, you can find the typical cakes of the holidays such as the dove based on Evo Oil.
