LA MACCHIA HOTEL SPOLETO
Traces of railroad tracks and abandoned freight cars cast off to the side. But someone had the idea of salvaging the seats from the railway cars that once travelled along the railroad tracks to decorate the dining room of La Macchia Hotel & Restaurant in an unusual and original way. Also known as the “Osteria del Trenino”, the walls of the restaurant feature a display of historic documentation about the former Spoleto-Norcia line. In the village of Licina, on the via Francigena road of St. Francis just outside of Spoleto, yet immersed in the thicket, the small hotel run by the Sabatini family (Claudio, Carla and their two daughters) offers silence, tranquillity, simplicity, characteristic and wholesome dishes and every modern comfort. Donkeys graze freely on the property, acting as natural and ecological grass cutters in the meadows below the olive grove.
