He paints splendid landscapes and exciting still lifes. But most of all, he is a poet of the heart and of nostalgia. The subjects in Luigi Frappi’s works are not inspired by reality – he evokes them. The creator of the beautiful curtain in Bevagna’s Torti Theatre, he is actually a poet on canvas. And “most of all, an Umbrian” as he was described by the art critic Vittorio Sgarbi, “he brings forth the signs of this land that can be seen not in the representation of the landscape or the still lifes as much as in the reference he makes to the inspiring thought”.
