This cafe’s wooden counter is as old as the years gone by…. If the walls in this late 19th century grocer’s shop could talk, how many stories about old-world Foligno it could tell! At the time when the residents used to say “Let’s go to Casciola”. While many things have changed, what remains alive is the “soul” of this historic spot located in Palazzo delle Canoniche in Piazza della Repubblica square. In recent years its name was changed to Bottega di Barbanera but today it is known as the Antico Caffè della Piazza, one of Italy’s most renowned cafes, where the splendid aromas and delicious flavours have remained unchanged.
