The first dedicated contemporary sculpture park in Umbria and the first of the artist in the world.
Beverly Pepper Sculpture Park is carefully designed by the artist and will be studded with twenty sculptures from her private collection and donated to the city ofTodi, created with different materials (iron, stainless steel, marble) in different artistic periods (from 1960 to the 2000s), including the two San Martino Altars (1993) and the re-edition of the Todi Columns. The park connects two important historical sights of the city center and will allow visitors to fully enjoy the dialogue between the artworks, monumentality, the landscape and the urban context.
Spreading over five acres of public park, it is conceived as a contemplative walk, connecting the 16th Century Church of Santa Maria della Consolazione with the Church of San Fortunato in the city center, and passing by the remains of the Rocca, the Medieval fort built at the top of the hill, with 360-degree views over the Umbrian valley.
This project also foresees the reclamation of the green area and the restoration of the sculptures. For the Park, the artist created the Lunettes, benches sculpted out of pietra serena – a local stone from the quarries of Lake Trasimeno – which will be carefully placed along the path and which she conceived as meditative rest-stops for visitors to admire the artworks and enjoy the views while surrounded by nature.
