Arnaldo Caprai Winery Montefalco
The Arnaldo Caprai winery was established in 1971 with the intention of recovering the ancient indigenous vine that has been grown exclusively in the Sagrantino territory of Montefalco for more than four hundred years. The company, currently headed by the son Marco, has become a leader in the production of Montefalco Sagrantino , with 150 hectares of land located among the green hills that stand before Montefalco. Positioned at the crossroads that lead to Bevagna, the winery can be glimpsed from the driveway lined with olive trees. Surrounded by a sea of meticulously manicured vineyards, the vines are tended by farmers who, with skill and patience, embroider the hills with rows of vines. Upon arrival you’ll be welcomed into a brightly-lit wine bar, with a large central counter in the shape of an almond, surrounded by shelves full of Analdo Caprai Wine, of course. At the end of the bar there’s an old wooden cutting board set on top of the counter, where you’ll always find fresh, whole grain bread , baked in a brick oven, which you can drizzle with Arnaldo Caprai’s Extra Virgin Umbria DOP Olive Oil, to be enjoyed one glass of Sagrantino and another.
